Texts typed in OneNOte are being deleted in real time

A user was typing on OneNote and the text that he just typed are being
deleted. We could see that the texts are being deleted one by one. The
OneNote file is saved in SharePoin and the user has contribute
permission in the file.
When we checked the syncing we saw that the particular notebook was
syncing (the sync green icon was rotating) at the same time he was
typing. He was only able to type without the text being deleted when
we skipped the syncing on that notebook.
Is that a OneNote behavior? That user cannot edit when the notebook is
currently being synced?
Please enlighten me.
Thank you.

Who else has permissions to that Shared Notebook on SharePoint? At first
glance it seems that someone else is deleting the content from his/her
cached copy of the same Notebook and those deletions are being synced to
the server and then synced to your user's copy.

Without any other information I can confirm that ON will generally not
delete data on iots own, and that it is a design of the application that
would allow multiple users to access and modify ON data when shared on a
network in a near-simultaneous fashion. The sync will and should occur
constantly, so your note that the sync icon is continually rotating lends
weight to my inital thoughts above.

We are having difficulties with spontaneous deletions as well. My husband
and I are sharing a notebook on our home network and a section no longer
loads. I can locate all the missing sections by doing a desktop search, but
when I double click on them, I am returned the error "Unable to open this
Internet shortcut. The protocol 'oneindex' does not have a registered
program."

We're running Office 2007 Ultimate and Windows 7 Ultimate 64 on my machine,
where the file is hosted and Vista 64 on his.

I have a snipping tool capture of the files and error if you'd like them.

LadyDiBelle cited the error message "Unable to open this
Internet shortcut. The protocol 'oneindex' does not have a registered
program."
You can find the same message in the reply from Bret Fisher. AND an
answer to this reply with a registry change you can find in the next
reply from TonyMN ....
