That Funny Little Guy In MS Office?

R

Ron

When I bought my last laptop, it had already came with some version
of MS Office; I don't know which. I don't know how I did it, but
somehow I got some kind of little Einstein character to show up
whenever I used MS Office. Then my laptop crashed and a friend has
given me a new Office program (Office 2003) for Xmas to put on my
backup computer. Does anyone familiar with MS Office know how to turn
this character on in this new installation? Is it even available in
Office 2003?

The "Genius" Office Assistant character was included in Office 97 and
Office 2000, but is not compatible with Office 2003. Office 2003
includes other Office Assistant characters. And you can download even
more characters from http://www.msagentring.org/default.aspx .

Sigh... I wish I had known that when my friend asked me if I wanted
the newer editions of Office. Office 2007 won't run with my Windows
2000 OS and there's nothing particulary great about Office 2003
without the office assistant I had grown rather fond of. ;-(

This is from Office 2007 Help.

"The online Help feature in the 2007 Microsoft Office system has been
completely redesigned, and the new design does not include the Microsoft
Office Assistant. "

Looks like it's a goner now.

I couldn't use Office 2007 anyway-- it's not compatible with Windows
2k. You try to install it and you get an error message saying that
version of Windows is too old. Too old, ha! I'm not gonna upgrade just
to run Office '07. At least
Windows 2000 is stable.
