The Analyze it with Microsoft Excel function in Access 2002

I have a user who has created a database in Access 2002 that makes an ODBC
connection to one of our mainframe DB2 databases. She has created a query to
pull the records she needs to this database. That is working fine. The query
runs inabout 2 or 3 seconds. Then she needs to export the data into an Excel
spreadsheet so that she can email it to a supplier. She is using the Analyze
It with Excel function, which is working but causes Access to stop responding
for about 15 minutes before it finally creates the spreadsheet and launches
Excel. The amount of data she is exporting is very small, only 700-1500
records, with each record having 10 columns the resulting Excel file is less
than 100KB. Any ideas on what might be causing this timeout? her PC is a
Dell Optiplex GX520 with a 2.6Ghz processor and 1GB of RAM, and she has 25GB
of free HDD space.

So, what happens if you use a different approach...?

You already have a query, so simply highlight it in the database window and
right-click it. Select <Export> and specify the format to export to.

Does this approach also take 15 minutes?
