The autotext new selection is not activated to allow to add text

I wish to add new text to the autotext in Office 2003 but I am unable to
becasuse when I do insert autotext the new does not show it being activated.
Please tell me what I must do.

Sorry, your question, as phrased is difficult to understand. If you wish
to have new "autotext" available you have to create it first. If the
question means that the "New" on the menu is greyed out, simply select
the text in the document that you want to "turn into autotext", and then
select Insert, Autotext, New. Otherwise, go to Insert, Autotext,
Autotext, "Autotext tab", Enter Autotext entries here, type in the new
entry, then click Add.
