The curser will suddenly jump back several words

In word and Excel when typeing text the curser suddenly jumps back on its
self several words. Can any body advise me of a fix for this issue.

Are you using a laptop with a touchpad below the spacebar? If so, learn to
keep your thumbs away from the touchpad. If you're lucky, the control panel
will have an application to adjust the touchpad's sensitivity.
