The data file was not closed properly?

I am using outlook 2007 and Vista Ultimate. When I shut
down and restart Outlook I get an error message "The data file was not
closed properly. The file is being checked for problems". Eventually outlook
works. It does lock up on occasion as well. I assume I have a corrupt data
file? What file am I looking for and how can I fix this? Can I repair the
file? I have run av & spyware, chkdsk and office "detect and repair".
No luck. Any suggestions?
Thank You

are you using a pda or other application that accesses outlook data? if so
close it before closing outlook. that should end the closing problem.

After you shut down Outlook, use Task Manager (does Vista still have a
task manager?) to check if the outlook process is actually closed. Some
add-ons sometimes prevent Outlook from closing completely, which can
lead to the symptoms you describe.
