the dialog box prompt is not automatically activated when opening

I have a password-protected excel file. When I have excel already open and I
open this file from my desktop, I find that I have to left click the Excel
application on the Taskbar in order to get the dialog box that prompts me for
the password. Is there a way that once I double click the shortcut, that I
will automatically be in Excel with the dialog box prompting me?
