The MAPI spooler could not be started

For reasons I don't understand, Outlook Express rather
than Outlook opened every time I clicked mailto: link, so,
genius that I am, decided to uninstall Outlook Express.
Now I get an error "The MAPI spooler could not be
started".

How can I fix this?

Reinstall Outlook Express (Outlook needs some common files to run) and
ensure that you have Outlook, not Express, as the default for mail under
Control Panel->Internet Options->Programs tab.
