The meaning of Accent

L

Linz

May sound like a silly question but in Powerpoint 2002 under "edit color
Scheme" what is an Accent.
How is this color used.

Thanks to anyone that can help.

The accent color is the 6th of 8 colors on the 'color pallet'. These
pallet colors are used in layouts, designs, charts, and graphs and are
always selectable from the top row on the fill and font color menus. If
the show builder planned their show correctly, they can also be used to
globally change the colors used throughout a presentation.

Assigning a color to the pallet does not preclude the use of other colors.
Using the color pallet can make your life very easy if the boss changes
favorite colors.

Thanks for responding Bill.
That didn't really answer my question, as I already understand all that you
stated.
Maybe I didn't explain very well.

When you apply a scheme to a slide or a slide set, the colours in the scheme
are applied to the various areas in the slides.
The background to the background, the text and lines to the text and lines
etc.
They all seem to apply to various elements on the slide when the scheme is
applied and you can see that.
The only colour I can't see apply to any part of the slide is the colour
assigned to "Accent"
Sure you can go down to the fill colour, line colour or font colour and
apply that colour from there, but that's not applying it from the scheme.
What element or graphic do I need on the slide for the "Accent" colour to be
used when applying that scheme to a slide.
If all it does is add that colour to the pallet you could do that anyway.

Hope I've explained that better.

Thanks

In a minute of checking, I found it controlled:
The third bar in a bar chart
The mist color in the Mountain top design
Some of the fireworks color in that design
The blend color in the ugly glass layers design.

As you have noted, it is not a big player on the palette team, but on
occasion adds a small touch of flair. I would guess that is why they
labeled it an accent color.
