how can I unlock the modification so I can type in the word or excel from
now
on?

Activate the purchased product.

Usually brand new computers come with a 90 day trial. During this period it
will let you use the program, being able to make modification and create any
Word, Excel, PowerPoint document. After the trial period is over the
application will lock and will not let you modify or create any documents.
If this is the case you need to purchase a copy of Office, uninstall the
trial and then install the purchased version and then activate it.

If this is not your issue, please post back with version of Office you have,
where the version came from (purchased it) and further information on
exactly what you are doing that causes this error message.

I have the same problem. And I got my PC yesterday!

This is what I did.

I opened Word.
It said: I have to enter a key code even if I'm using a Trial version or
I'll only be able to acess Word 25 times. So I clicked on the "MS Office - 60
day trial" icon on my desktop. A mini-window was launched, I click Button '1'
and it automatically filled in an Activation Key(OEML or something) . I
clicked on Button '2' and it said activated. Then I used MS OFFICE Picture
Manager..Fine...then I opened Word and it ran me through the activation
mini-Window again...I clicked Button'1', Button'2'...then...I don't know... I
still cannot use Word or Excel.

Help!
