word selection is locked

when i try to type. "this modification is not allowed because the selection
is locked " appears. how do i unlock it?

Does this affect all documents in Word, existing as well as new ones? If so,
you may have an expired trial version (buy a full version) or a version that
hasn't yet been activated (activate it).
