The 'open' box scroll bar always defaults to the right

When I use Word or Excel and press the open folder icon, it brings up an
'open' window displaying the folders & files. The scroll bar along the bottom
always defaults to the right. I've tried clicking on views and choosing
details, whichj would be better. However, when I close and later re-open
word/excel it doesn't save my changes.
I know this isn't a major problem, just irritating but I would be grateful
for any help.

Hi Gloria,

Assuming this is youre computer rather than a work computer,
in Windows explorer, under Tools=>Folder Options=>View
see if turning on the setting for
'remember each folder's view'
setting makes a difference.

Also check the regional default language settings in
the Windows Control panel.
