'the operation failed due to a registry or installation problem'

I have had to do a system resore on my pc and when I try to use Outlook and
reload the email account an error comes up saying 'the operation failed due
to a registry or installation problem.' Suggests you restart outlook or
reinstall but I've tried this and it doesn't help.

Any suggestions?

I am running Office 2003 on Microsoft XP SP2

Further to this I think the problem is Outlook is not finding the outlook.pst
file in fact nothing in Outlook now seems to work. If I try file open
outlook data file nothing happens at all.

Hi,

Un-install Office using the Windows Installer Clean Up Utility.

http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;en-us;290301

Remove the Office keys from HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Office and
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Office.

Rename the Microsoft Office folder from C:\Program Files.

Restart computer and re-install Office.
Let me know if they help to resolve the errors.
