I have office 2000 installed on a laptop running XP professional SP1. I use
Outlook to connect to our Corporate Exchange server. I have MS Word set as
my default editor for Outlook. From time to time I get this error when
opening an email: "The operation failed due to network or other
communication problems. Check your connections and try again." I found MS
Article ID 813742 which describes the exact problem I am having. I followed
their resolution, but the problem still exists. I have also tried renaming
the normal.dot and letting a new one be generated. I have also deleted the
user's Data key HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Office\9.0\Word\Data and
let that be regenerated. However, I still am experiencing the error from
time to time. I was going to try the Office Eraser, but MS says not to use
it in XP. Any help? Thanks
