Server - NT 4.0 PDC
FP 2000 on XP
Most of the site is viewable by all, one part of the site I want to
authenticate users before letting them view it. For the site properties
I've allowed anon users under the anon account. That all works fine.
The private part of the site is under one folder, "Financials". In FP I've
made it a subweb. On the folder in the web manager on the server side I
selected the properties and turned anon off and selected NT credentials. In
FP I set that this web has unique permissions, then added the group Domain
Admins to admin, author, and browse, and the group Site_Financial to browse.
My account is in both groups. I also add my user account to admin, author,
and browse in the user tab. I have "Only registered users have browse
access" selected.
On my XP box I'm logged in as my account. I go to the Windows Explorer and
pull up the properties of the Financial folder and add myself as full
control, and have that propagate down to all the child objects. I verify
that on the Default.htm I have full permissions.
I can use the whole site as normal except the Financial subsite. It asks
for my credentials, I enter domain\user and password to no avail. It always
says "The page cannot be displayed". If I change the file permissions in
Windows Explorer to allow "everyone" it still doesn't work, so it doesn't
seem to be a hang up on file permissions at this point. But I can't figure
out what the problem is that prevents me from seeing the pages. I even
enter a bogus password on my account and I get the same page. It's like IIS
can't authenticate me.
What gives?
