The page margin is too high on startup

I have been using Word as part of Office 2003 Pro fine for about six months.
Now, on startup, the cursor starts at the very top of the page (no margin),
although the margins remain set as normal. I have to swtich to View/Header
and Footer, and then back to main body view to get it to return to its usual
place.

As you mouse over the top of the page in Print Layout view
the cursor should change. If you click at that point the
margins should show again (show/hide 'whitespace')
