The Ribbon

Is there anyway at all that I can get rid of the Ribbon and go back to simple
drop down lists. The Ribbon has a lot of superfluous icons, clutters up the
screen and nothing is in alphabetical order.

You can minimize it and render it operate more like a menu. Double-click
a tab or press CTRL-F1 to do that.
If you want to modify the Ribbon, you'll have to learn RibbonX
(http://pschmid.net/office2007/ribbonx), or you can look into my add-in
linked below my name.
