The selected file is not a valid Microsoft Office Document Imaging File

Hi:

I am having a problem with Microsoft Document Imaging. When I scan a
document and then need to change it, either add or delete pages, I get
the following error message. "The selected file is not a valid
Microsoft Office Document Imaging File." This seems to have started
to happen after I installed the latest round of Microosft Windows 2000
security patches. My office does a great deal of scanning so this is
a major problem.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I am running Windows 2000 SP4 using Microsoft Office XP professional.

Thanks

This is the same problem I posted earlier. The problem
occurs when the file is saved - it gets corrupted. It is
a major problem here at our company right now - I will
probaby need to recover hundreds of files from tape that
have been messed up.

I have only seen it happen on a network drive - not the
local drive. Have you had it happen to a file on a local
drive?

You are right this seems to only be on the network drives. Did you
notice it happening after applying Windows updates or patches? For my
network, this is a recent problem, and it did seem to start after
applying patches. Have figured out any solutions?

I still have no solution. I'm going to call Microsoft in
a little while. I haven't figured out if it was a windows
update or SP4 problem - but it is from one of those. I
also have not had a chance to see if it happens on a WinXP-
Pro box - that might narrow it down to SP4.

I tried this on a XP Professional PC, did not seem to be a problem.
Please let me know if you find anything else about this problem.

I have spent over 4 hours on the phone with Microsoft
about this problem. They tell me I am the first to notify
them. I find that very hard to believe - but they have
another technical guy going to call me Monday to help
resolve the issue.

More people need to call and let them know about this ...

Bob:

Any luck on this problem? What number did you call for MS. I'll bug
them next week as this is becoming a big problem for me.

...not a valid Microsoft Document Imaging file.

I get the message "The selected file is not a valid Microsoft Office Document Imaging file."
I get this when I try to save something I have scanned. I see that other people say it is only a problem if something has been changed or edited. I scanned several pages of music. When I was done, I clicked on "End and save," or whatever it says. I then had to rescan a page and move it in, which is, I guess, what caused the problem. Both documents were scanned the same way, in Microsoft Imaging, and are tifs. I merged them, and now can't save the final products, which is very vexing. I have had this problem many times in the past. I'm guess the merging somehow creates the problem, but I don't see why it hasn't been fixed after all these years. Previous posts about it are more than a decade old. Anyone got a solution???
