The space bar and letter keys erase as I type. Why?

P

Phywa

For years, I could hit the space bar and move a whole line of type to the
right or add text at the beginning of a sentence. Now all of a sudden, all it
does is erase and I have to retype the whole sentence.

A different problem is that the beginning of every line becomes capitalized.

Thank you for your help.

Hi Phywa,

In Tools=>Options Edit in Word is 'typing replaces selection' turned on? If so and you are are in 'overtype' vs 'insert' mode
(toggled with the Insert key on your keyboard and indicated on the status bar as a lighted 'OVR' at the bottom of the Word screen)
then that will happen.

Tools=>Autocorrect options for 'Autoformat as you type' include the capitalization settings.
