The Windows Installer launches everytime I try to open Access

Everytime I attempt to open an Access database or the actual program the
Windows Installer launches. It says preparing to install, and then nothing
happens. I have been unable to initiate the original Office 2003 Pro media
that it came with as well. It had been fully functional until a SBS install
and a Windows XP Pro Upgrade.

I've seen reports indicating that running this as an administrator
fixes up the problem and you can run as a regular user thereafter.

Thanks Tony, I did try to launch under administrator to no avail. I read a
few other sources that made me think that the Windows Installer might be
corrupted. So, I downloaded Windows installer cleanup utility, unistalled
the updates/changes to installer made by Office. Unistalled Office 2003 Pro
completely, and then reinstalled it. It is now working fine.

Glad to hear you finally got the problem resolved. Thanks for
letting us know so we'll know for the next time.

I tried the Windows Installer and deleted the Office Pro changes, unistalled,
reinstalled, but the issue remains. Can anyone identify the specific windows
update file that may be causing this problem?

D not instal SP2 for Office 2003. That is when I discovered the same problem.
I uninstalled 2003 & XP then reinstalled XP, updated to latest SP-3 then
Installed 2003 but only to SP-1 and all is OK. What a mess.
