The word program won't let me correct mistakes

I am a short stoy writer and something happened on Word that won't allow me
to make corrections and in some places the word or phrase doubles. How can I
get back on track? Using 2003 Office

Well, sometimes when I want to correct a word or phrase the cursor goes right through the word instaed of deleting it and sometimes the word appears twice.

That sounds more that a video card quirk than a Word problem. Does it happen
to other documents or just one? Have you tried emailing that document to
anyone else and ask them to try to do whatever you are doing? That might
narrow down the scope of the problem.
