Themes and fonts problem

O

When I apply a theme to a MS Word 2008-document, the theme doesn't apply to the fonts of the headings. What could be wrong?
I would expect the themes to be able to change the layout of the document completely, in a way similar to what I see in Word 2007 (Windows).

When you select your heading text, what does the Font name in the Formatting
palette show? Do you see "<Font name> (Headings)"? If not please change
the font to the font which has (Headings) from the font name dropdown in the
Formatting Palette. The font with (Headings) is the heading font of the
current theme. Your heading text font now should be updated as theme
applied.

Thank you very much - that partly solved the problem. "Partly" because it leads to another question: Why doesn't my built-in headings-styles use the correct font? I always use the styles for formatting, ctrl-shift-1 for heading1 etc. Could there be a problem with my normal.dot? I tried to delete it, but it didn't help. I might at some earlier point have imported normal.dot from Windows to Word2004 for mac.

When you installed Word 2008, it imported your Word 2004 Normal template FOR
you! I am trying to get that changed.

Try this:

1) Quit all Microsoft applications.

2) Track down all instances of pre-2008 Normal template on your computer,
and drag them to your desktop. The file is called simply "Normal" and has
no extension.

3) Find and drag the file Normal.dotm to your desktop. Unless you have
moved it, it should be in
~/User/Library/Application Support/Microsoft/Office/User Templates/

4) If the following files exist, Remove or rename them:

~/Library/Preferences/Microsoft/Word Settings (10)

~/Library/Preferences/Microsoft/Word Settings (11)

User/Library/Preferences/com.Microsoft.Word.plist

User/Library/Preferences/Microsoft/Office 2008 (the whole folder!)

5) Now re-start Word 2008 and it should be OK.

Cheers
