Thesaurus/task pane

Office 2003 is alright, except for one thing. I hate, loathe and despise the
task pane. I'm a big fan of the thesaurus, but I hate having it pop up via
the task pane, ranther than in its own, small window like it did in Office
2000. Is there a way to change it? Please?

Have you grabbed it by the handle (4 dots left of "Research) and placed
it where you want it to appear?

Are you saying that after you have detached the pane and relocated it,
it moves across the screen and docks itself? On the other hand If the
pane doesn't reappear where you put it after a reboot, I suspect there
is a problem with your system not saving user preferences.
