Well, I mean to gloat. I use nothing but OE, I don't use any third part
software for email, and I don't receive any spam at all.

That's only for if you're infected, in which case you'd be SENDING them.
Getting them, that's something else entirely.

If someone's PC is infected by a virus, the user could unknowingly be
SENDING a poison email to everyone in his/her address book every time he/she
uses their email program. On the other hand, if that person has not taken
sufficient steps to protect their system against such attacks, they will be
vulnerable to RECEIVING a poison email every time incoming mail arrives.

I think that it is about time that you revamped your email system.
It is no longer feasable to use [email protected] unless I want
to get all of this junk. Most of these bots just use a dictionary
approach starting with _a_ and ending with _zzz_. If you are
using a major provider you are going to get this junk. I use a
munged email address from a defunct domain.
I receive nothing, nada.

It's all in the way it is set up. I don't get any either. OE/IE
fully patched.

|| is too hacker "friendly" and lacks the advanced filtering
|| capabilities of Eudora.

Use Spamnet...spamnet.com..works by scanning message headers and is
effective...you highlight offending messages and click Block..messages from
that sender get sent to the folder of your choosing...like Deleted! also
uses the collective prior blocks of all users to mark messages as
Spam...your blocks are added to other users block lists

My brother had the same thing happen. He posted messages to a newsgroup and
did not use an alias. The spam robots are working overtime to gather up
suckers to install the bogus Microsoft patches.

discard address to post answers to news groups.

For Microsoft Office Outlook users;

Go to your webbased mailclient of your ISP. If you have a good provider it
will let you set mailrules here. Set the rule to delete or move to another
folder to prevent it from downloading into your Outlook.

That's useless because the sender address is most of the time faked.
If you do so, you're just having your revenge on innocent people.

I believe this one is propagating through address books & stored email
addresses on infected HD's. Throw away accounts, such as the one you
advertised, will not prevent the receipt of spam and/or viruses.

In fact, it is the thorw-away addresses that will never get this one
because, as you say, it is using address books on infected computers and
those will always contain good addresses, with few exceptions.

Swen will cull email addresses from newsgroups and web pages as well as
address books!
