Hi all,

What are the connection settings to access this newgroup server please? Do I
need to use SPA for example? And do I need to use my .NET Passport as the
login name?

Regards,

Toby

No on the last 2 questions. Microsoft's newsgroup server name is
msnews.microsoft.com and it does not require one to supply a user
id/password to access.

/neo

ps - when you say outlook, i'm assuming you meant outlook express since
microsoft outlook does not support newsgroups.

Thanks for the help!

Outlook does have a newreader (A scaled down version of OE) If you add the
Custom Command "News" to the Go Menu.

Actually that news command launches OE with the /newsonly command line
switch. (the switch shuts off mail support in OE.)

What error do you get? Does your provider allow access via port 119? (Many
large corps close it, if you are connecting from work.)

It's not actually a "scaled down" version. It is full Outlook Express but
run with the /outnews command line switch which reskins it and suppresses
the mail reading features.
