This One Is Tricky Need Help !!!!!

This is what I have
In AA5:AA65 IF L is entered = Laidoff
In D5:D65 = AVERAGE of each cells in E5:E65 Total hours worked if L is
entered in AA5:AA65
In B5:B65 = Names if entered
In cells F5:F65 to L5:L65 = Hours entered if worked

This is the formula im using IN E5:E65 = Total hours
=IF(B6="","",SUM(AB5+F5*1.5+G5*1.5+H5*1.5+I5*1.5+J5*1.5+K5*1.8+L5*2))

This is what I want: If there is a value in D5:D65 I want to use this value
& have this value in E5:E65 I don,t want to SUM & If there is no value in
D5:D65 I want to SUM AB,F,G,H,I,J,K,L5:65 I HOPE THIS MAKES SENCE & POSSIBLE

No, it doesn't make sense, at least not to me.

I suggest you give a couple of worked examples.

No, it doesn't make sense, but perhaps you intended to say either
=IF(B5="","",IF(ISNUMBER(D5),D5,AB5+F5*1.5+G5*1.5+H5*1.5+I5*1.5+J5*1.5+K5*1.8+L5*2))
or
=IF(ISNUMBER(D5),D5,IF(B5="","",AB5+F5*1.5+G5*1.5+H5*1.5+I5*1.5+J5*1.5+K5*1.8+L5*2))

Note that in neither case do you need the SUM function, unless you want the
SUM function to add something to
AB5+F5*1.5+G5*1.5+H5*1.5+I5*1.5+J5*1.5+K5*1.8+L5*2
If you are unclear as to the functionality of the SUM function, look it up
in Excel help.
