Three Master Project Questions

D

Doug

Q1: How do I prevent others from publishing master projects in Project Server
2002?

Q2: Is there a Project Server 2002 Administrators Guide? I have found the
administrators guide for Project Server 2003, but i can not find a 2002
equvalent.

Q3: Can the same project be included in more than one master project? We
have a "task force" organization, where a single project may affect more than
one other project. I was wondering if having a single "child" project in
more than one "parent" project would cause any problems in use.

Thanks

1. Log into PWA with administrator permissions. Click the Admin menu,
click the Manage Organization link, and then click the Features link in the
sidepane. Just below the data grid of Features, deselect the Allow master
projects to be published to Microsoft Project Server, and then click the
Save Changes button.

2. You should purchase "Implementing Enterprise Portfolio Management with
Microsoft Project Server 2002" by Gary Chefetz. The book is available for
purchase from Amazon.com and can be found by searchin on Gary's name. If
you move to Project Server 2003, you can purchase one or both of our books
on the subject by clicking the URL in my signature block.

3. Yes, a single project can be included safely in multiple master
projects.

Hope this helps.

Thanks Dale. The path to prevent publishing master projects is different in
project 2002 and 2003. Using your instructions, I found it.... right where
you said it would be.
