Three Problems

Jim

Friends,

(I'm new to this list, although I previously posted a similar message
to the Entourage-Talk list, but didn't receive any replies. I've used
Entourage since the 2001 version and have used Macs nearly 20 years.)

I'm running Entourage 2004, V11.2.5 (060620) using a Quicksilver 2001
Tower and OS X 10.4.7. I have a POP Earthlink account and an IMAP
DotMac account.

These problems have been with me for a while, but are increasing in
frequency and therefore frustration.

1. In my POP Earthlink account, I'll get all messages re-downloaded
from the server every few days -- then I have to go through and delete
them (usually about 700-900) from Entourage. This happened twice one
day!

2. In my IMAP DotMac account, I don't always get mail downloaded when
my Send & Receive All schedule runs (every 5 minutes). New mail will go
into my POP Earthlink account, but then I'll get a message in the lower
right hand corner of the main window saying "Checking for new messages"
(with the rotating blue barberpole). This will continue until E-rage
times out or I quit the program and restart it. Upon restarting, it
will get all emails properly.

3. I often get the yellow triangle with exclamation point in the lower
right hand corner indicating that the error log has new entries. It is
usually the same message: "An operation on the server timed out. The
server may be down, overloaded, or there may be too much net traffic."
IIRC, I get this message even though I get the sounds signifying that I
either have mail or don't.

These are intermittent problems -- any ideas what is happening and how
to fix them?

Thanks,

Jim
