Time entered for Outlook event changes when sent to Calendar. How.

I have Windows XP. I am learning to use the Outlook calendar, created on my
computer and shared with the entire staff at work. Sometimes when I create
events/appointments,etc. the time changes from the time I entered. This
seems to occur most frequently when I "invite attendees". When it shows up on
the calendar it is an hour later than it was originally scheduled. How do I
prevent this from happening? I am in the EST zone and have the computer set
to correct for daylight savings time. The time showing on my computer is
correct.

Make sure that your Windows time zone settings match Outlook's settings.

if the calendar is publicly accessible, do the other users have the correct
time information on their system?
