Time Format and Calculate difference in time

Hello
Everytime I type the time in hours, I get time and date in the cell. And I
can not calclulate the difference intime -From to. E.g. 0500 -1400 should
count 7.00 and I get the result 14.00. I used the time format from the menu.
Need Help, plz.

Post what is in the cells and the formula you used, time is pretty
straightforward just subtract

=A1-B1

where B1 holds 05:00 and A1 holds 14:00 will return 9:00 and not 7:00

Of course if you use time you should tell Excel that you are using time and
use : as a delimiter or else how would excel know that 1400 is time and not
One Thousand Four Hundred?

Your problem is not formatting, it is data entry.

Always enter your times like:

05:00:00 and 14:00:00

The result should be 9:00:00 (9 hours, not 7, not 14)
