TIME INTO HOURS WORKED

I DO SOME PAYROLL ITEMS FOR MY COMPANY AND I WAS WONDERING
IF EXCEL CAN ADD THE HOURS WORKED WHEN THE NUMBERS ARE
ENTERED IN MILITARY FORMAT. I.E. IF ONE CELL HAS 8:30 AND
THE CELL BELOW THAT HAS 15:30 CAN THE NEXT CELL HAVE THE
HOURS WORKED WHICH IS 9 HRS MINUS 1 FOR LUNCH.

SURE, WE CAN DO THAT-- WAIT A MINUTE. LET ME ADJUST THE VOLUME HERE.

There. That's better.

We can subtract the two times to get the difference. Excel stores hours as
fractions of days, so to express the result in hours, we need to multiply by
24. We can then subtract one hour for lunch:

=(A2-A1)*24-1
