Time Scheduling for a Resource

I have a project with a task that is supposed to take 200 hours. The catch
is that the task is supposed to take from November 3, until March 15 of 2004
(next year). It is a DBA support task (I guess that would be considered
maintenance). How do I schedule this so that Project shows the task as
taking the entire length of time needed (until March) but still show it as
taking only 200 hours.

Have you tried the following:

1. Double-click the task and select the Advanced tab
2. Set the Duration to match the date range you specified
3. Set the Task Type to Fixed Duration and click OK
4. Click Window - Split
5. In the lower pane, select the resource and set the Work to 200 hours
6. Click OK and then close the Task Form (lower pane)
