....To go on a bit further from what Veroniq has rightfully
stated, once the resource enters their actual effort in
PWA, the resource has to select "update all" to send the
updates to the project manager, the PM then goes into PWA
to review & approve the hours (by selecting "approve" at
the task level) and selecting "update" in PWA to send the
updates to the project plan. This will "open" the project
plan, make the updates and save the project plan (although
it does not exit it once completed).
BTW, from our experience over the last 12 months of doing
this, before the PM approves the timesheets, you should:
1) make sure the plan for which you are about to approve
hours is not opened in MSP
2) make sure no other plan is opened in MSP
3) only approve timesheets for 1 project at a time; in
theory you can approve hours for many projects
simultaneously, however we have encountered some really
funky stuff when doing so...
