Timeout during population of Project Server 2007 project centerviews

Hi All,

We gradually migrated Project Server 2003 and WSS 2.0 to Project Server
2007 and WSS 3.0 recently. The migration went well and there was no
error during the migration.

But, when we tried to populate the Project Center views for
Administrator we got the following error message in the log file:

System.Data.SqlClient.SqlError: Timeout expired. The timeout period
elapsed prior to completion of the operation or the server is not
responding.

I can solve the problem when I downsize the number of the projects to
the half of the actual in my organization category. Then, they are
populated and shown in the project center views. According to my tests,
it seems there is a 30 second timeout limit in the queries and if the
queries exceeds 30 sec. during the population of the data, it gets the
above error. I tried to increase the timeout limit in WSS 3.0 (Central
Administrator-Operations-Data Retrieval) and in the web.config for PWA
and SSP sites but it did not work. I also updated WSS 3.0 to WSS 3.0 SP1
it did not work either. I couldn't succeed to change the 30 sec. limit
no matter what I did.

There is no such error for example in Resource Center views and all the
projects can be seen in Project Professional 2007.

Any idea/suggestion to solve the issue?

Thanks in advance,
Ali Ertugrul
