" timeout expired " message

I have some large tables in sqlserver database. five of them have 5000000
records. All tables have a index (clostered), but "[Microsoft][ODBC WQL
SERVER DRIVER]timeout expired" appears when I try to make query using Group
By Argument.
Can you help me?
