Timesheet Remaining Hours ?

anovak

Someone recently recommended removing Remaining Hours from the
timesheets and having users check the Remaining Hours in My Tasks
AFTER importing the timesheet and adjusting if necessary.

Does that mean if a user typed in Remaining Hours in the timesheet, it
would be ignored upon import into My Tasks or would that number be
overlayed from the timesheet rather than be recalculated?

Thanks,

Think of the Remaining Work in the timesheets as a window into the Remaining
Work on My Tasks. It's not really stored with the timesheet, and it's not
imported when you import a timesheet, it's saved to My Tasks remaining time
when you save from the timesheet page.

The suggested workflow above will help avoid the issues caused by this: In
timesheets, users should enter the what the remaining time would have been
before the timesheet hours are applied to the task.

When you enter remaining hours in the 2007 timesheet and save the data, it is
written directly to the MSP_ASSIGNMENTS_SAVED table. This is the table use
by My Tasks. The PSI to import timesheet data into my tasks does not bring
over the reaming work as it should already be there.

We found out the same thing using SQL profiler. However, I would like to find out what's the correct web service call to use.

Thanks,
Scott
