Timesheet View in Outlook

Android

Hi,

I wonder if someone can help me with 2 related questions....
In Outlook, the view does not show the left panel, which would allow me to
switch to Timesheet views (instead of the default Gannt view). How can i
change this.

Also, when looking at the timesheet view via the web interface, the system
allows me to enter % complete, but not the actual work on a given day. Is it
possible to enable this?

Here's how to address your problems with Outlook and the PWA Timesheet:

1. In Outlook, make sure that you have the Folder List displayed on the
left (View - Folder List). In the Folder List pane, right-click on your PWA
timesheet folder and select Properties from the shortcut menu. Select the
Home Page tab and change the SimpleUI=13 portion of the character string to
SimpleUI=1. Click OK and the timesheet should now show the sidepane to the
left of the timesheet. These directions assume that you created a folder
when adding the timsheet to Outlook.

2. If you are a team member, you cannot change the default method of
tracking shown on the timesheet. If you are the Project Server
Administrator, you can change the default method of tracking for the entire
organization by logging into PWA, clicking Admin - Customize Project Web
Access. Change the method of tracking to "Hours of work done per day or per
week" and set any other options desired. Click the Save Changes when
finished. You will then need to ask each project manager to open every
project and click Collaborate - Publish - Republish Assignments, and then
click OK. Doing so will push the new method of tracking to each user's
timesheet. If you are a project manager, you may be allowed to change the
method of tracking for an individual project if the PS Admin has not locked
your organizations method of tracking progress. To do so, click
Collaborate - Publish - Republish Assignments. At the top of the dialog you
may see three methods of tracking, and if so, select the most appropriate
method of the project and click OK. Hope this helps.

Okay...can someone please explain how I can do the reverse of what Dale
explained? I'd like to have % Of Work Complete being the only active field to
input data. However, my resources are only allowed to enter data in the
Actual/Remaining Work columns.

I am an Admin with the following radio box checked on PWA:
Percent of work complete: Resources report the percent of work complete,
between 0 and 100%.

What additional steps am I missing in order for resources to only report %
complete?

Thanks in advance,
Smitty

You need to ask every project manager to open every one of their projects
and then click Collaborate - Publish - Republish Assignments, and then click
OK. Doing so will "push" the new method of tracking to each user's
timesheet in PWA. Do know, however, that any tasks that is "in progress"
will not have its method of tracking changed by this procedure, and team
members must finish these "in progress" tasks using the old method of
tracking. Hope this helps.

Dale -

I appreciate your quick assistance. I apologize that I didn't follow this
same advice you posted in a previous reply. It all now works as needed. I'm
sure you'll be hearing from me in the near future with yet another question.
