This afternoon we started to see some strange behavior in our system.
I was working with a manager, and he pointed out that timesheets for one of
my projects are showing up in his "Updates" list for approval, even though
he is not setup as my manager in the RBS, nor is he assigned to any of the
tasks listed in the timesheet. I thought it was an isolated incident, until
I received an email from another manager saying that he is also seeing
timesheets for the same project showing up in his list of updates pending
approval.
I'm suspecting some kind of DB corruption, for a couple of reasons:
1. A resource on one of my projects submitted a new task that he marked as
being 100% complete. When I added the task to the project, I also had to
add the other resources that were assigned to that task. Since it had been
marked as 100% complete by the resource, it informed me that I would be out
of sync with the protected actuals if I tried to save the project. (Which is
normal behavior, I assume). I'm not sure if something happened during that
save that might have caused a problem.
2. After completing number 1 above, I did a Publish / All Information top
push the assignment out to the other resources on the task. For some
reason, there's a little voice in my head telling me that might not have
been the right option to select, becuase it was about 20 minutes after doing
that when these problems cropped up.
Any suggestions for doing a quick check to see if there is a corruption
involved? So far, it appears to be impacting only this one project. We're
using Project 2003 Pro with Project Server 2003 and PWA. SP1 has been
applied to both the client and server sides.
Thanks in advance.
