Have no fear! Just before you enable managed time periods again, you will
need to ask each of your project managers to do the following:
1. Open a project for which they are the manager
2. Click Collaborate - Publish - Republish Assignments
3. Select the "Overwrite actual work entered by resources" option
4. Click OK
5. Repeat steps #1-4 for every project that they manage
Completing the steps above will "push" the actuals entered in the Microsoft
Project plan into each user's timesheet. This will populate the Actual Work
values during managed time periods in the past, and will preserve your
historical data. Hope this helps.

So I have turned the managed time periods off. I am teaching the masses
on how to use the timesheet function. Once everyone knows how to use it, I
will go turn the managed periods back on and have the users fill in their
timesheets. Once they fill out their timesheets will these updates blow
away data I had previously updated in the plan? I have a lot of tasks that
are completed as well as a lot of plans that have some progress marked
against them. I am absolutely terrified and I won't proceed unless I know
for sure. Any insights will be really helpful.
