"timestamp" questions

Simon Wigzell

A client of mine who used Frontpage on her old website has the following on
the bottom of each page :

Updated:<!--webbot bot="Timestamp" S-Type="EDITED" S-Format="%m/%d/%y"
startspan -->04/09/03<!--webbot bot="Timestamp" endspan
i-checksum="12740" -->She claims that web crawlers make use of this info.
It's all new to me. I don't use Frontpage to create my web pages. How do I
simulate this? How important is the checksum? Does anyone know anything
about this? I've been working on web pages for 3 years and this is the first
I've heard of it.

Her information is a little off target. The bot crawler tag should be at the
top, as well as the key search words. The above link has all the information
you need, and best of all it's free. If it helps you, I suggest you make a
contribution though!!
