Timsheet

Since I've been told that the outlook plugin is a little buggy and should be
avoided, I was curious if Project Server 2007 timesheets were suitable for a
medium sized company (~100 employees). We want a centralized place to track
all project and non-project related time. The web timesheet is a little
cumbersome but appears to work. I just want to make sure we aren't going to
be running into any sudden walls.

Also, is there a way to have timesheets automatically get approval?

Individual timesheet managers can set up rules for automatic timesheet
approval, but I would not recommend doing this as it may limit the
value of the input information by eliminating review.

Additionally, individual types of administrative time can be set up to
not require approval... However, considering that administrative time
(once approved) is used to create calendar exemptions for the resource,
I would try to limit the use of nonapproved administrative time to
things like training and meetings.

You must be certain to comprehensively integrate Timesheeting into your
overall use pattern for Project Server in order to minimize
inconvenience to users and potentially take advantage of the import
functionality. Alternatively, you can either import from an external
system or create your own interface.

You can certainly use the My Timesheet page to gather all types of time
spent by employees, including project work time, nonproject work time, and
even nonwork time such as vacation and sick leave. Users can even submit
planned nonworking time, such as vacation, into the Project Server system
from the My Timesheets page and when approved, the nonworking time is added
to the user's personal calendar in the Enterprise Resource Pool.

To set up automatic approval of timesheets, you need to make each user
his/her own Timesheet Manager. Hope this helps.
