Tired of Notations

I sometimes use Word 2003 which has the nasty habit of turning things
into scientific notation. If I write 12th Avenue, Word turns the "th"
into a s supercript so that it's a bloody exponent! Is there some way
to turn off this annoying feature?

In Word 2000, I clicked Format, AutoFormat, Options button, "AutoFormat
As You Type" tab, deselected "Ordinals 1st with Superscript", and that
turned it off. I also turned it off under the "AutoFormat" tab. That
seemed to stop that feature. Hopefully it's about the same with Word 2003.

Thanks, Joe. :)
