tmp files

I have a lot of files that look like this:
~WRL.0001.tmp. the number changes, but they all look like
this. How do I get rid of them? I am using Word 97.

They should be deleted automatically when you close the document or quit
Word. If they aren't, you can delete them manually (you may have to restart
Windows first to release them).
