to edit essay for someone else - how do i put in red editing

i have edited texts before with inserting red corrections (words,
punctuation, etc) into the text i am editing - i just forget how i did this!
can you tell me how to insert the red corrections?

Why did you post this in the Outlook Newsgroup?
When you post in the Word Newsgroup, please state the
version you are using. Also you might try the F1 (Help)
key. You will save us all a lot of trouble. Search on
Tracking changes.
