To remove Outlook from Desktop after Office 2k Update

Running WinXP, patched up, but not SP2 yet.
Now running Outlook 2000 SR-1 (9.0.0.3821).
Just installed an Office Update and now the Outlook Icon is on my Desktop.
THis is the Program and not a Shortcut (the little arrow at bottom of icon is
absent and when I attempt to move it to another folder, move/copy is not
available - only Create Shortcut). So, my question(s):
Why did this happen? How to remove it? Uninstall is obvious answer, and I do
not use Outlook, but maybe re-installing in another directory is
available(?). Or some setting that does not display this icon? Outlook is
available in the regular Office directory.
Would appreciate feedback.

Ten seconds at support.microsoft.com using "desktop icon" as the search
string produces this article:

DL, Thanks for the reply. Right-Click/Properties brought up a dialog box that
is for editing/changing Accounts. There is a Properties Button here, but it
is greyed. Prob this is because I have no accounts established and this is
likely for Account properties.
I've read ahead to Brian's response and suspect it will do the trick. Thanks
again.

Brian, Thank you so much. That did it! Filed the article and the associated
one in case I want to put the icon back. Cannot say why I did not find the
article myself, except I may have so many hits that I gave up looking thru
them too soon. Had gone thru Win XP help/support. Am not even sure where that
took me. Anyway, thanks again!
