TOC display problem in Word 2002

Hello group,

I am having trouble with a Table of Contents in a document. It displays just fine on 2 other computers running Word 2002 but on one particular machine it displays: {TOC`1-3...random characters}??? Does anyone have any ideas? I have tried to repair Office and removing Word and reinstalling it but I still get the same problem. I have run several virus scans to ensure that there is no infection and I have found none. I have installed all available updates to all the Office applications running on the machine. I have done pretty much all that I can think of short of uninstalling and reinstalling the entire Office package or reformating the machine. I would rather not do either of these if possible. Thank you for any and info that you can shed on this.

It looks like the third PC shows field codes. Rightclick the TOC and choose
Toggle Field Codes.

Hi Tom

Tried that and it turned into something that looked more like a TOC but still had some odd text: HYPERLINK \L "TOC(string of numbers). Any thoughts on that
