TOC formatting

How can I prevent sub-topics from showing up in the TOC? I may have section numbering seven layers deep, but it only makes sense to have the TOC show items up to the third level. At present, my TOCs can be really long, up to well over a hundred pages.

You need to edit your TOC field to either change the outline levels to 1 or
2 (instead of 7) or to make and appropriate choice of styles.

In Word 2002, place cursor in TOC, choose Edit Field from right-click menu,
then the Table of Contents button in the field dialog to open up the main
TOC dialog. If necessary, use Options to edit styles.

Also, make sure on your Table of Contents tab that you
have "3" in the Show Levels box.
