TOC in template

When I use a short heading in the template I created and then update the TOC,
the leader dots disappear and the page number is tabbed 1.5 inches to the
right of the heading (in the TOC). How do I get the leader dots to remain in
the TOC and the page number to stay flushed right in the TOC regardless of
the length of my headings? I've tried playing around with the tab settings in
the styles, and it only seems to adjust the the tab spacing before headings
in the TOC (instead of after).

You evidently have a tab stop set at 1.5"; longer headings are passing this
stop, so the page number ends up in the right place, while shorter headings
are stopping short of this tab stop, so page numbers wind up there. If there
is no need for this tab stop, remove it.

If the tab stop is resulting from a hanging indent at 1.5", you may need to
enable the Compatibility Option for "Don't add automatic tab stop for
hanging indent" (but note that this will affect your entire document).

Alternatively, add the \w switch to the TOC field code, and then make
sure to define two tab stops for each of the TOC styles: a
left-aligned one (without a leader) for the tab character inserted by
the hanging indent, and a right-aligned one (with a leader) for the
page number at the right margin.
