TOC indentation and tab

Eric

Hi,

In my document, I have made the tables appear like this:

Table I (Shift-Enter)
(Shift-Enter)
Title of table I

When I create the List of Tables, the title of all the
tables do not appear aligned (as shown below), it is
possible to align the title of the tables while still
using the (Shift-Enter) to create line spacing?

Table I Title of table I
Table II Title of table II
Table III Title of table III

and so on...

Thanks for your help,

Eric,

Eric,

Soft returns (Shift-Enter) are automatically converted to spaces in TOCs and
cross-references. The only way I can think of that might work is to follow
the two soft returns with a tab. Of course, this would cause "Title of
table I" to be indented under "Table I" in your captions, but the indent
would be unnoticeable if you added a 0.01" left tab set to the caption
style.

You could put a tab in the second line instead. That wouldn't affect the
centering. Each TOC entry would have a space after the tab, which would be a
problem only if there are runover lines (the hanging indent would not
align).
