TOC indentation (....)

Eric

Hi,

When I use a style that I created in my TOC, the tab
leader doesn't appear if the text is smaller than 10
characters. But when the text has more than 10 characters
the tab leader appear as they should in the TOC.
Something similar to this:

Problem statement.................... 1
Objective 2
Document structure....................3

Thanks for any help.

Hi,

I simply modify the hanging for the TOC2 in the "index
and table" window. Thanks.

Hi,

I have the same problem and the hanging indent does not help. I have the
problem at TOC3. If I run the cursor through the TOC, I see that TOC3 level
items have an extra left tab. If I look in the style however there does not
appear to be any tabs. If I remove the tabs in the TOC, then everything
appears correctly but the next time the TOC is updated, the tab gets put back
in.
Any suggestions?

Hello,

I just found the solution to the problem (at least in my case.) If you
toggle the field codes for the TOC, you can insert the "\w" switch. The
documentation states, that "\w" preserves tab formatting. I am using headings
to generate the TOC and have made sure the Heading 1 to Heading 9 styles do
not have any tab stops. This has fixed the problem for me.
